Sometimes things happen that interfere with your academic progress or grades. If you lose your financial aid, there are ways to get it back. 我们可以帮助你.

  • If you are ineligible due to failing to meet the Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) Policy，你可以上诉. Your SAP status is displayed on the 自助服务，财务援助，SAP选项卡.

• My State of Michigan aid is suspended

  • If you have been notified that you lost 前线的未来 or 密歇根重新连接 aid for not meeting continuous enrollment, you can request a Continuous Enrollment (休假) 上诉.

• My income or family income has changed since I filed my FAFSA

  • This is a Special Circumstance 上诉 when your, 你的配偶, or your parent income is significantly lower now than it was in the year reported on the FAFSA. You can complete a PJ Expected Family Contribution (EFC) Recalculation 上诉.
  • To Request an 上诉 - after submitting your FAFSA:

    — Use the request button in the upper right corner to request the PJ Expected Family Contribution 上诉 Form. This will create a new task on your home page.
    — Click on the green task bar and follow the instructions to complete your appeal. Make sure to upload relevant documents.

• I can’t provide parent information on the FAFSA

  • This is an Unusual Circumstance 上诉 or Professional Judgment (PJ) Dependency Status Override request to be considered an independent student. See Federal Student Aid Dependency Status.
  • If you answered no to all of the dependency questions on the FAFSA, you are considered a dependent student for federal aid purposes and you must provide parent information. Not living with parents or not being claimed by them on tax forms does not make you an independent student for purposes of applying for federal student aid.
  • 然而, if you answered no to all of the questions, but have unusual circumstances, 比如下面列出的那些, you may be able to complete your FAFSA without parent information:
    — Your parents are incarcerated.
    — You have left home due to an abusive family environment.
    — You do not know where your parents are and are unable to contact them.
    — You are older than 21 but not yet 24, 是无人陪伴, and are either homeless or self-supporting and at risk of being homeless.
  • If you are filling out the FAFSA form online, you will be asked whether you are able to provide information about your parents. 如果你不是, you will have the option to indicate that you have special circumstances that make you unable to get your parents’ information. You will then be able to submit your application without entering data about your parents. You will then need to complete an appeal form to explain and provide documentation for your situation.
  • To Request an 上诉 - after submitting your FAFSA:

• I have costs higher than those in the Cost of Attendance

  • This is a Special Circumstance 上诉 for when your aid is being limited by the estimated Cost of Attendance (COA). 第一个, review the COA components in the 自助服务, 金融援助, Awards tab to confirm that your actual costs for one or more categories are higher than the estimated cost.
  • To Request an 上诉 - after submitting your FAFSA:
